What Happened To Dr Sharpe On New Amsterdam?
In season four of the show, an enraged barman goes on a rampage and drugs several medical professionals. He does this in a bed to take revenge for the COVID-19 pandemic. One of his victims is Dr. Helen Sharp, and she develops strong reactions to the drug. Helen and Max go straight to the ER and are informed that Helen will need a hysterectomy. This is an operation required to remove the uterus. The revelation leaves the couple very upset and shocked.

Helen insists that she wants to have a baby, and she petitions for a less radical procedure that will cure the fast-growing number of blood clots in her body. However, they cannot find a better option, and she is in critical condition. She is eventually rushed off to undergo a hysterectomy, and when she wakes up, she is unable to speak. It is not sure if this condition is temporary or not. The episode ends with Helen and Max getting engaged and having decided to honor their bond despite the medical complications.
