Miguel O'Hara is a New York geneticist at Alchemax working to recreate the abilities of the original Spider-Man. A lab accident due to sabotage by a co-worker results in half Miguel's DNA to be re-written with a spider's genetic code. Miguel survives the process, but soon discovers he has gained spider-abilities. Miguel soon comes face-to-face with the corruption and oppression rampant among the corporations he'd turned a blind eye to while working as a corporate stooge, and is surprised to see that as the new Spider-Man, he instills a new hope in the people of New York.
